I am an assistant professor at the Interactive Intelligence Group, Faculty of Electrical Engineering Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). My main topic of research and teaching is Responsible AI. Taking a very interdisciplinary perspective, I want to help develop AI systems that can interact with people ethically while remaining under some sort of meaningful human control.
I received a Ph.D. and M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and a B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from PUC-PR, Brazil. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I also studied at the Hochschule Konstanz (Germany) and the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e, Netherlands). Before my current position, I was a postdoc at TU Delft’s AiTech initiative and a researcher at the Lactec Institutes.
I co-direct the AiBLE lab, a Delft AI lab on augmenting human intelligence and supporting negotiation in the built environment. I am a core team member of the AiTech initiative on Meaningful Human Control.
